  • Thank you for your comment regarding the bank to Welford Road. We recently inspected the slope and footway and the condition does not appear to be deteriorating significantly - however, work is certainly required. The erosion of the soil slope is an ongoing issue and we have looked at a number of options for addressing this whilst ensuring that the stability of the fences at the top of the slope is not compromised. We are currently finalising a design which does not require excavation, with the expectation that this will allow repairs to be implemented this financial year. The trees were removed in February to avoid any issues with working during the nesting season – unfortunately, this has allowed the weeds to grow rapidly. The proposed works to stabilise the slope will include removal of the weeds followed by a replanting scheme on completion which should limit any further weed growth.

  • I am more concerned with the whole situation of the fences being perched right on the edge of the precipice. There is no protection on the outside of the fences, what exactly is keeping the fences up?. How can this be safe for residents and road users if there is the possibility of falling from the top? There needs to be a barrier at least 6 ft above the ground level at the top of the bank. This only affects Pheasant Way houses backing onto the main road below. If work is imminent could you please inform me as to what the remedy will be and will it solve the safety aspect if the residents? Thank you
