A wall abutting a public footpath

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 08:39, Tuesday 5 October 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3041294.

The wall abutting the footpath is in a dangerous state. It is unstable and moving making the footpath at the end of the Close a dangerous area. My grandchildren frequently play in the Close and I am very concerned about them becoming hurt if the wall falls whilst they are playing. Over the last year the wall has moved at least two inches and can be moved/ wobbled very easily if touched.

  • Thank you for your enquiry and your patience on this matter. We understand you have concerns about a wall at the end of Astbury Close. Following a thorough investigation we can confirm that the wall is not on the adopted highway. Unfortunately it is therefore the responsibility of the private landowner to maintain and is outside Northamptonshire Highways’ control. As an immediate solution to the defect we have coned off the area and contacted the relevant landowner in order to deal with the immediate safety concerns.
