Overgrown shrubs and bushes blocking footpath.
Reported via mobile in the Weeds category anonymously at 17:29, Sat 9 October 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3052002.
1 Springfield Road, Rushden shrubs and bushes have overgrown to the extent that they are virtually filling the footpath. The homeowner needs to cut these back to their boundary line. With the winter weather coming I would rather walk on the footpath and not the grass. The photos were taken about 5 weeks ago and have just been for a walk and is no better.

Thank you for your enquiry and for bringing this matter to our attention. We understand that you have concerns about overgrown vegetation on the footpath in this area. Whilst we appreciate your comments, the location of the vegetation is not on the adopted highway. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the private landowner to maintain and is outside Northamptonshire Highways’ control. Nevertheless, we have written to the landowner requesting that the vegetation is cut back from the footway within the next month. We will endeavour to revisit the site following the months’ notice period.

This has still not been cut back and on the rare occasion it has been previously (sorted)( I use the term loosly) it does not get cut back enough to be able to use the whole pavement. This happens every year. It's not the only home that needs reminding of their responsibilities. Perhaps the council should send out reminders to all properties

Minimal Bush trimming has been done the bushes are at an angle overhanging the footpath. It still needs cutting back level with the footpath edge to be able to walk with children and pushchairs etc.

Agree that minimal cutting has been completed and that the homeowner needs to understand where his boundary line is and that is where the laurel needs cutting back to. Yes there is an overhang which is quite offputting especially when walking at night or in windy weather.
