Blocked drains causing flooding in underpass
Reported via desktop in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 17:40, Sat 16 October 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3066382.
The drains (4 off) at either end of the underpass at the end of Ladybridge Drive under Mere Way are blocked by earth and vegetation. When the pictures were taken there had been no rain for over a week. In moderate rain the underpass will flood. The size of the drain appears to be inadequate and there is no surrounding brickwork to stop the bank collapsing and washing down to block the drains.

The drains are still blocked. The bank has been cut back but it will collapse again into the drain. It needs a brick/concrete surround to prevent the erosion. A competent surveyor should asses the problem and determine a schedule of work. I have reported the problem again.

Thank you for your further comments. Whilst we understand your frustration, we can confirm that the gullies are designed to a specific specification and we are only to maintain the gullies at this area. Should any revision be recommended or advanced in the future, we would endeavour to make these changes here.
