Overhanging vegetation on the corner next to public footpath

Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 17:09, Monday 25 October 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3083422.

This is extremely unsafe. Poor visibility for oncoming traffic and pedestrians. Have to stand on the road looking left cautiously to see if traffic is coming when crossing the road towards Athelstan road or when using a motor vehicle you are not able to see pedestrians standing there. Pedestrians just appear at times. Mainly children.

  • Thank you for your further enquiry. We understand that you have concerns about overgrown vegetation obscuring visibility in this area. Whilst we appreciate your comments, the location of the vegetation that you have identified is not on the adopted highway. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the private landowner to maintain and is outside Northamptonshire Highways’ control. Nevertheless, we have written to the landowner requesting that the vegetation is cut back from the footway within the next 14 days. We will endeavour to revisit the site following the two weeks’ notice period.
