Blocked and overflowing drain.

  • Hello,

I don't know where you are getting your information from but it is incorrect.

Last week, at my request, a jetting vehicle attended Newnham and I took the workman to the drain in question to show him the level of the water which was only 3 inches below the road surface, not two or three feet below like the other drains. He said he would inspect the drain and 'sort' it. The following morning I went to have a look and the water level was still almost at road level. Whenever it rains it overflows and there has been a pool of water there for many months whenever it rains. There is undoubtedly a blockage.

    Regards,

Terry Regan Chairman Newnham Parish Council

  • The water level is about 18" below the road surface. This drain may have been 'jetted' and now be at the correct level. I shall monitor the situation.
