Deep (12") pothole
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3199218.
Pothole seems to have occurred since drain work carried out in verge about one month ago - can't believe contractors would leave road in such dangerous state! The traffic cones have been added since I drove into pothole which is difficult to avoid when meeting oncoming traffic and impossible to see in dark

I heard a bang as a car went down the deep pothole on Xmas Eve evening. On Christmas day I put the two cones out to mark the site to protect my visitors, and when they left I removed them as I was worried about litigation. I am prepared to put the cones back if I won't be held responsible for any consequences. I have watched as several vehicles have gone close to the pothole, which is inevitable if oncoming traffic is present, which tends to come through the railway bridge on that side of the road. I had already reported this issue to the highways liaison officer and some one had looked at it, but it needs cones asap as it is in the carriageway.

Thank you for your further comments. We can confirm that this defect was tended to on Monday. Works have been done on the verge and they have levelled off to the road.
