Road markings at traffic lights review required.
Reported via desktop in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 12:39, Sun 9 January 2022
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3226469.
Please consider reviewing the road markings at this junction. If driving south on 6003 and taking left turn to cranford, immediately past the traffic lights one has a “sub”junction accommodating traffic heading north on 6003 and turning right into cranford road, yet there are no priority markings for either vehicle

Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways regarding your request for additional roadmarkings at the Barton Road / Cranford Road junction. Our traffic signal section have reviewed the situation and confirm that the existing road marking arrangements are correct. The junction is fully controlled by signals and traffic travelling southbound has priority over right turning traffic into Cranford Road as they have a full green signal. The right turning traffic into Cranford Road should only turn where gaps in oncoming traffic occur on both southbound lanes. The right turners into Cranford Road will have full priority only when the green filter arrow is lit as the southbound traffic will be held on a red. This is a indicated in the Highway code.

Thank you for your update. The reason I raised this matter was because I was second in a queue of 2 heading from Kettering to Cranford Road One car travelling north on the A6003 was turning right into Cranford road. Crucially there was no traffic travelling "straight on" in either direction. When the lights turned green traffic travelling from both directions moved off and due to the car in front of me and the car heading from the south meeting in Cranford Road whilst not actually hitting a "road rage" incident did occur. Your example works absolutely fine so long as there is traffic heading south on the 6003 preventing vehicles turning right into Cranford Road (unless on the filter)

Please review the temporary traffic lights at this junction, it is causing chaos and it is becoming dangerous as the lights are not in sync and people are having to mount the kerbs to avoid collisions. Not to mention the road rage!
