Worn out access marking

Reported via desktop in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 11:35, Saturday 15 January 2022

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3242298.

The white line outside our property is still awaiting a refresh. I have seen the white line marking lorry in Brackley twice since you last promised to rectify this - which was first reported in early 2021, where it was to be done in the next 6 months, then again in autumn 2021 (after 6 months had elapsed) and where it was going to rectified by Dec 21. We are now in Jan 22, nearly 1 whole year later. Please can you come and fix this and also the dreadful potholes in the same location - when a bus goes over them, the windows are now starting to shake! My postcode NN13 6BA.

  • Thank you for your enquiry concerning the visibility of the road lines in this area. Whilst we appreciate you were previously advised that the lines would be reinstated within 6 months, unfortunately at present we are unable to reinstate road markings, such as this one, due to the budget scheme list being fully allocated. This will now be completed in the next financial year. Thank you for your patience. With regards to the potholes you mentioned, work has already been instructed to repair the carriageway defects that meet the specifications for repair, within the next 6 months. Please refer to Street Doctor 3242343 for updates.

  • Thank you for the update. If it helps to get this done then I am content to pay the £170 inc VAT again if it means getting it done before the next Financial Year. Please contact me if you think this helps get it done sooner rather than later. Thanks for the update on the potholes too.

  • Thank you for your further comments, and for your continued patience on this matter. Regrettably, we would be unable to accept payment for the works, as they are ours asset maintain. Whilst the cost of the lining outside your property may be relatively low, the cost of mobilising a lining gang would be significantly higher, sometimes tenfold the lining itself. We subsequently bulk up works and include them in a program of works so we can provide the best value. Therefore, regardless of whether you were to pay for the lining or not, it wouldn’t allow us to expedite the works any quicker. Apologies that we cannot resolve this matter sooner.

  • I have offered to pay for this work at the cost of having a new line added outside a property. Surely if there is no funding to re-mark one that I have already paid for is not available, then my offer to pay will resolve the funding issue? It’s even more frustrating when I saw the lining vehicle in Banbury Road by the curry houses in the aftermath of the two previous reports of the faded lines (which were previously affirming an intent to get the markings repainted).

  • The line is waiting to be painted. The lines in Bridge Street by the Fire Station have been done recently. Can mine be done next please?

  • The access line is still in need of a refresh. Now we are in a new financial year then please can you send the road marking team out to rectify? Many thanks
