Starting from the layby a number of potholes

Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 13:34, Tuesday 22 February 2022

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3334776.

The potholes along station road from the layby (opposite the garage) heading towards Long buckby wharf have become deep and I would of thought would cause car damage if you hit them. Have become worse since the storms and heavy rain.

  • I have tonight hit two large potholes close to the station garage whilst driving towards long buckby wharf. The potholes were not visible in the dark, nor could they be avoided with cars approaching in the opposite carriageway. It has caused serious damage to my car, including a large rip through my tyre and damage to the wheel. I suspect the suspension may be damaged too when I get that checked. Can you please advise how I go about claiming for reimbursement of the costs for repair from the council?

  • To the previous message above - the same thing happened to me on Friday (25/2/2022) night around 20:00. It blew out my front left tyre and scuffed by wheels. It was a serious impact and the pothole looked to be at least 150mm deep. I have contacted insuranceclaims.ncc@westnorthants.gov.uk. Found the email address through googling so hopefully the right address, but will monitor here for a response from Northamptonshire Highways.
