Hedges are overgrown on pathway

Reported via mobile in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 21:51, Sunday 8 May 2022

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3510574.

The bushes are not being maintained by the households in the area, so I'm guessing it is council responsibility. I have trimmed the thorny vines a number of times as they are dangerous and have been caught in them when walking in the evenings. The pictures attached are facing south-east/Northampton Road. The pathway joins Irvine Drive to Northampton Road. The bushes are behind #67 Northampton Road.

  • Thank you for your enquiry and for bringing this matter to our attention. We understand that you have concerns about the condition of the vegetation here. Whilst we appreciate your comments, the location of the vegetation that you have identified is not on the adopted highway. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the private landowner to maintain and is outside Northamptonshire Highways’ control. Nevertheless, we have written to the resident requesting that the vegetation is cut back more within the next 14 days. We will revisit on the 6th of June

  • As the owner of number 67, I can confirm the vegetation is on land outside of my property boundary. It is the council's responsibility to maintain, and they have done so in previous years
