Drains blocked

Reported via mobile in the Blocked/Damaged category by Ian Duncan at 10:36, Wednesday 29 June 2022

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3632661.

ALL drains are blocked as the section from the industrial area on Gretton Brook Road going to Pheonix Parkway, the road side is piled higher than the kerb with hard packed mud from lorries coming out of the industrial area. The road floods. A road sweeper is no good it needs a digger. There is nowhere for any water to drain to. It is like this for apprkx 500 yds to Dunlop Closd Now it is the same going towards Gretton from the industrial area, the drainage gullies are blocked with mud and the water cant drain into the Gretton Brook. This on both sides of the road is dangerous as people are having to avoid it and drive towards the middle of the road, in winter it is a sheet of ice. I have previously reported this many times, Sarah Barnwell is aware of Gretton Brook Road issues. Please take this seriously, and clear these hazards effectively, it is NOT a 5 minute job to do it effectively with a digger NOT a road sweeper, which will have no effect at all, and would be a waste of time and money. Potholes also require fixing at the juntion of Gretton Brook Road and Corby Road near Keepers Lodge Farm. These keep being patched and dont last more than 5 minutes, more time and money being wasted, please do the job properly. These issues were reported originally on the 4th of November 2020, coming up for 2 years!!!! Thank you Ian Duncan

  • When will this be sorted ? It's like an ice rink, no rain for days and yet the road is covered in slippery water. Thats assuming this is just water and not mixed with some sort of chemical. The road does not need a road sweeper, but proper investigation and fixing. Please stop giving the road and us lip service. Someone is going to have a fatality on this stretch.

  • Hi, can someone please advise on the progress of the previous report of July, as yet nothing has been done to alleviate these issues of the all the hard packed mud allowing the water to flood onto the road. all the way from Dunlop Close for the full length of Gretton Brook Rd on both sides .As advised many times over the last 2 years , this has been an issue and still not resolved. this road is DANGEROUS when it rains, and if nothing is done soon we will have a skating rink to drive on. Can this please be attended to URGENTLY. There are also existing potholes at the junction on Gretton Brook Rd with Corby Rd which also have been previously " repaired" but as usual it only lasts a few months, when they need doing again. Why can a job not be done correctly the first time?
