Bushes overgrown towards road and into residents gardens

Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 14:03, Thu 14 July 2022

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3676481.

Repeat of last year. Bushes need cutting back as they are blocking public footpath and also from top, as the thorny branches are growing into people's gardens through and over our fences.

Investigation last year, led to council contacting David Wilson Homes as the responsible party. At which point action was taken to address. Unfortunately happened again.

  • Firstly, please accept our sincerest apologies for the delay in updating this enquiry. This has been due to an administrative error at our end. We understand that you have concerns about the condition of the vegetation here. Whilst we appreciate your comments, the location of the vegetation that you have identified is not on the adopted highway. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the private landowners to maintain and is outside Northamptonshire Highways’ control. Nevertheless, we have written to the residents requesting that the vegetation is cut back more within the next 14 days.

  • Thank you for the update. However this problem was raised last year as well, under reference S154/REG. Paul Conway was the regulations technician who discovered via searches that the bushes are the responsibility of david wilson homes. He wrote to them and they were cut back. Same thing has happened again. Same location. The residents are not responsible.
