Blocked drain continuously flooding road it’s been going on for over one year!
Reported via mobile in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 22:46, Tue 19 July 2022
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3689076.
This drain has been blocked & continuously flows water out of the drain despite no rain, so potentially something more, but urgently needs unblocking, this has been like this for over a year. what’s prompted me today is the fact the drain water flows down the road disappears underground & then reappears out of a previous repaired hole in the road, flowing faster than from the drain, Ive contacted Anglian Water who have inspected it & says it’s from the blocked drain, it’s only time before the road will fail. why has nothing been done about it despite it being reported previously??

This was reported to Thames Water last year and they advised of planned work on the surface water main line. They have been contacted again to confirm when this will happen. An update will be provided once we hear back from them.

This gulley pours clear water (burst main??) constantly and has done for the last 2-3 years. Even in the driest of conditions which we have been having over the last few weeks, it still runs water. In winter, this freezes and is lethal on the sharp bend.

This blocked drain was first reported by me in July 2020. Thames water have sent Engineers and the survey truck on multiple occasions but NEVER return to clear the blockage. Please ask Thames to come and unblock the drain that almost definitely requires it to be excavated and replaced.

This was a very occasional problem when we moved to the village over 14 years ago. It has gradually got worse to the extent that after heavy rain, the road becomes a river. With winter approaching, this will freeze and become extremely dangerous for drivers on an already very dangerous double bend.

So what’s the update since we reported this YEARS AGO??? Absolute disgrace that you ping-pong this to Thames Water and yourselves and no-one is actually taking responsibility to investigate and repair this leak. Water has been running down the street for years now….. and still is…..
