Expensive paverprint drive lifting and cracking
Reported via mobile in the Slabs - Uneven / Damaged / Cracked category anonymously at 13:46, Thu 18 August 2022
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3764226.
There is a massive tree on the boundary just outside my property. This has been reported many times by my neighbours.the roots of the tree have been spreading for years and are now lifting my expensive drive, my neighbours drive and also the public footpath. I would like this problem sorted asap as am a pensioner and certainly cannot afford a new drive. Also the footpath is a danger to the public. Would you please give this your concern or do I instruct my insurers. Hoping to hear from you soon.
Susan Perrin. .

Thank you for your enquiry and for bringing this matter to our attention. We understand that you have concerns about the condition of the footpath adjacent to Hedgerow Drive. However, we can confirm that there are no immediate safety concerns that meet our repair criteria, at this time. However, please be assured that we will continue to monitor the area as part of our routine inspections. Any works we undertake to the tree are for Highway safety reasons only and we will not be undertaking any works below ground. We also don’t undertake any works on private land, to repair third party assets. To expedite this matter further, we kindly advise that you would need to contact you household insurer, as we don’t undertake survey works to discount interference from a highway asset such as a tree. Should your insurers wish to contact our insurers, this can be done via any claim against Northamptonshire Highways for damages as a potential result of this issue. An insurance claim form can be request via highways.ncc@westnorthamptonshire.gov.uk.

I am not at happy with your response to my problem. When was this looked at. Nobody contacted me at all. It would seem that you just fob the problem off. The roots of this massive tree are lifting my paverprint drive. This would appear to be your problem and obviously the tree needs to come down. It’s canopy is well over the drives and road and the roots underground are spreading and lifting my drive. Do they have to be under the house before you remove the tree, maybe they even are. Absolutely shocked with your dismissal of this situation. Did you even come out to assess the situation. I suspect you did not. Please address the case before any further damage done.
