Condition of road since resurfacing
Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 14:01, Tue 23 August 2022
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3775232.
Amount of loose stones since resurfacing is horrendous, i am aware you have 20mph signs up warning of potential skid and i know you are not responsible for someone overtaking at excessive speed causing my car to have a smashed windscreen and lots of other chips from the loose stones ,but you are responsible for the resurfacing which i feel is absolutely pathetic due to the excessive loose stones that have been left causing damage to my vehicle

Dear Mr Wright, Thank you for your enquiry regarding the surface dressing works that are taking place on Park Farm Way. Surface dressing is an approved road surfacing method which significantly extends the lifespan of the road and increases skid resistance. Once the surfacing has been installed the road will be swept after approx. 24 hours/48 hours and then again after 7 days. Road markings will then be reinstated. The A509 has received its first sweep with the second sweep due to be completed on Tuesday 30th August.Regarding the damage to your car, if you wish to make a claim please direct this to and they will be able to assist you further.

Surface dressing has not been cleared at the edges. Also the double white lines are covered and some south bound drivers are not aware that they do not have the right to overtake using the 'middle' lane. Lorries, because of their size, are picking up and throwing out the loose dressing on the following traffic.

This issue has not been resolved - road markings separating single and dual lanes are obscured by residual stone chippings that were not cleared after last year's surface dressing. At night, you cannot see any dividing line. Its like a 1-2 foot wide line of stone chippings covering the central road markings. In fact the whole length from Sainsburys to Sywell Road roundabout needs thorough cleaning and possible re-marking. Looks like an effort to clean roadside edges last week but still very dirty and road markings are dull/not visible in places.
