Highways owned trees suffering from decay
Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category by Frances Williams at 13:42, Sat 3 September 2022
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3799913.
On 6/11/20 I reported issues with trees overhanging Chapel Lane Badby (report ref. 2373919). The report was closed with the comment that Highways would inspect and decide on a course of action. No action appears to have been taken. The inspector who visited Badby in June this year to check parish council owned trees took the opportunity to review the Highways owned trees on Chapel Lane on the same visit. He marked three trees and advised that:
T1 is a large sycamore with a large basal cavity on the south of the stem. I recommend that the tree is tested to establish the extent of decay associated with the cavity.
T2 is a large sycamore with an open cavity at 9m. I recommend a climbing inspection should be carried out to establish the extent of the cavity.
T3 is a large Horse Chestnut with stem decay and extensive necrotic bark. I recommend that the tree is tested to analyse its internal condition.
In the interests of public safety, the parish council feels duty bound to pass on these comments to you.
