  • This was really bad on Monday night and today, half way up my wheels and school children were unable to get to the crossing.

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Regarding the condition of the drains in this section of Brackley Road, we are pleased to confirm that the problem you have indicated in this location, has a work order to investigate, clean and test the gully. This should hopefully be completed within a month’s time. Please be assured that you will receive an update once repairs are concluded.

  • I reported this issue as well in the 18th November. Reference number 3971762. The response advised it would be resolved within 1 month but this has been exceeded. I think the flood so close to a pedestrian crossing dims quite dangerous. Could it be addressed please

  • When flood water is deep, it’s not possible to see the kerb, edge of the road so accidents are likely. Flood water also encroaching onto pedestrian crossing.

  • This problem has continued for over 3 weeks since it was investigated and a work order was raised to investigate, clean and fix the gully. No action has been taken to date; once again this week the water was flooding across lane 1, part of lane 2 and spraying across the entire pedestrian path every time a car drove through it. The pelican crossing was made unusable and people forced to cross 4 lanes of traffic at unsafe places nearby.

  • Every time it rains this floods causing issues to road users and pedestrians using the crossing or that side of the path. It blocks at least one side of the carriageway and sometimes 2 in heavy rain Very dangerous when turning into that road from Springfields

  • This problem is now well over a month old and more than 30 days since your investigation and defect report. Why has this not been dealt with?

Posted anonymously at 11:39, Tuesday 3 January 2023

  • Has been block/flooded for weeks now, right by the crossing and very likely to result in drenched pedistrians.

  • This flooding needs URGENT attention as it's dangerous for motorists and pedestrians. It's been like it about 6 weeks. It's probably leaves blocking the drain and it would take a couple of minutes to fix.

  • The amount of water on the road is still high. Pedestrians cannot use the pelican crossing and are having to risk crossing the road elsewhere and the depth of water makes it impossible to see the kerb which is dangerous for vehicles. Your previous response of 30th November indicated work would be done within a month but this issue persists.

  • Issue still persists since initial report in November. As pointed out, extremely dangerous for pedestrians as well as vehicles travelling on that section. When will something be done? After a massive accident which could have been avoided??

  • Maybe West Northamptonshire Council can paint a "Splash Zone" on the crossing instead. I can arrive at the crossing in my armbands, googles and budgie smugglers ready to cross.

  • Why no update? Water seems to be sat there permanently now, rain or no rain. 7 weeks since first reported!

  • This has not been fixed yet. It is causing a dangerous situation as cars are swerving to avoid or aquaplaning across. Furthermore pedestrians are avoiding using the crossing as they would have to wade through water. What does it take for this to be rectified… an accident?

  • WNDC: this has been reported multiple times. You have not taken action in a timely fashion. This now amounts to a risk of negligence. The defect falls well below any reasonable standard, you have a duty of care to maintain the highway to a satsifactory standard, and foreseeable harm could be caused. It is a risk to pedstrains trying to cross here, as well as causing roadusers to have to change lanes to avoid the water: this is especially true of cyclists and motorcyclists who are vulnerable users.

  • After a couple of days with no rain, we were nearly bringing out the bunting and popping some fireworks as there was no flood on Friday… however unfortunately after a few sprinkles we were back to Noah building his ark and the gathering of pairs of every animal.

Please fix this issue before the Northampton Chronicle gets hold of this…
