Accident on corner of Grombold ave and Cartrill st Raunds
Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category by Neil Batchelor at 18:40, Thu 15 December 2022
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 4037740.
This accident happened today approx 15:20ish. This is a blind bend and there is another one the other end of Grombold ave. I think these 2 streets should be made a one way streets before a fatality happens. As a tax payer I believe this will be good use of our council tax or any other tax used to pay for road marking and signage to be installed. Please come look for yourself as Cartrill st. Is quire narrow and alot of children use both roads going to and from school. I live on one of these streets aswell.

Investigation: Completed (Highways to Monitor, Routine Inspection Programme) - Thank you for your report, and apologies for the delay in replying. I am sorry to hear of the collision you report. Whilst I understand why you have suggested making these roads one way, as the heavy parking reduces them to single lane for much of their extent, we would be concerned that this would encourage much higher speeds as drivers would know that they were not going to meet an oncoming vehicle. Therefore the situation for cyclists and pedestrians may be less safe in that event. Where visibility is limited, drivers should always proceed at a speed which allows them to stop safely in the distance available to them. We will monitor the situation here, but it is not always feasible for older roads to be brought up to modern standards. Thank you for making us aware of this incident.
