Narrowing of cycleway to the point of impassability
Reported via desktop in the Weeds category by Dr John Fitton at 10:35, Thursday 12 January 2023
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 4118107.
Although reported as 'fixed', it clearly is not. Although the overhanging vegetation and encroaching brambles have been cleared (they will soon reappear), the rough turf which over the years has encroached upon the tarmac has not. The neglected path is now so narrow that two cyclists cannot safely pass each other. The overlying turf needs to be removed to expose the original tarmac. A contraflow cycle path should be at least 2.0m wide - which is what this was once. Do any Northants Councillors use bicycles to get around? The lack of attention to cyclists needs in this county is disgraceful.

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Regarding the vegetation adjacent to Wellingborough Road. We are pleased to confirm that a works order has been raised to cut back this vegetation from the footway. This should be completed within 12 months’ time. Please be assured that you will receive an update once repairs are concluded. We usually find these defects are tended to within six months.
