Danger - Potholes along c31

Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 20:59, Monday 20 March 2023

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 4337655.

Repaired potholes already breaking up. Potholes outlined in yellow not repaired. Many potholes not marked for repair. These potholes will cause a major accident as many are in ‘driving line’ and can only be missed by swerving across lane into oncoming traffic or braking/driving to an extremely slow speed.

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Regarding this section of Old Road, we can confirm that the carriageway defects that meet the investigatory level for repairs, have work scheduled to resolve them. This should be completed within six months’ time. Please be assured that you will receive an update once repairs are concluded. We usually find these defects are tended to within 13 weeks.

  • Pot holes here are expanding and even more are returning. It’s impossible to miss and very dangerous. I have to travel slowly when oncoming traffic is coming towards me so I don’t ruin my car.

  • I am a Northamptonshire Council Tax payer residing in Mawsley. I am glad to see all the reports regarding the potholes on Mawsley Road are on record as my vehicle with my wife and children onboard was almost hit head-on by a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction on Mawsley Road between the A43 and Mawsley Village this week when the other driver swerved to miss potholes. When there is a major incident and people are injured or killed, the lack of appropriate response for months is thus documented and those responsible can be held personally liable for their lack of action. How can an unsafe condition like this be allowed to continue for months?
