Enquiry details: I live at number 40 Churchill Way, Kettering, NN15 5BZ. Yesterday returning from work I drove my car down Churchill Way and turned onto my drive from the road. Directly outside my driveway is an area of road that contains four deep pot-holes. They have been identified and marked by the Highways Agency for repair, (see attached image pot-holes 1, 2 and 3). I drove my car carefully onto the drive avoiding the pot-holes with my front wheels, but, bang, my rear drivers side tyre went down a pot-hole and the tyre was damaged resulting in it going down as I parked five meters or so on my drive.
In anger, I removed the rear wheel from the car and found a hole and a small split in the tyre. I took the wheel to Kwik-Fit in Kettering for repair. Kwik-Fit asked if I had hit a pot-hole, I replied yes. The tyre was beyond repair and needed replacing, (please see attached receipt pot-hole 5).
My tyre was damaged as a direct result of the pot-hole in Churchill Way outside my house and driveway. This is not my fault and it has cost me both time and money, due to the poor condition of the road. I am requesting compensation from the Council for the new tyre I needed to purchase for my car as a direct result of the poor condition of the road on Churchill Way. The Highways Agency know about the condition of the road as they have identified this for repair and will be documented by them.
I look forward to receiving your response and compensation for the replacement tyre.
