Tree is extremely overgrown and is obscuring traffic on the A509 making it dangerous to pull out from the driveway.

Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 22:53, Saturday 27 May 2023

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 4603765.

Tree branches are overhanging onto the pavement and the driveway. Making it difficult to walk on the pavement and dangerous to pull onto the A509 when you can’t see the traffic flow. Branches are also so low they are scraping the car if you park on the driveway.

  • An update was provided on 1 June - almost 2 weeks ago. Nothing has been received since, no work has been undertaken - the tree continues to cause major issues for both pedestrians and other road users. What is the status of this request and what if any work will be undertaken and when?

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Regarding the vegetation, we can confirm that a works order has been raised to cut back the basal growth. This should be completed within a months’ time. Please be assured that you will receive an update once repairs are concluded. However, there is a common law right which permits a person (or their agent i.e. tree surgeon, gardener, etc) to prune back any growth of tree, shrub etc to the line of their boundary, e.g. fence line, as long as any cuttings are disposed of in a responsible manner, i.e. not dumped on public property or private land.
