Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 4609339.

The barriers at the bottom and top of the alleyway between Wheatley avenue and east avenue Nn17 1nf were removed after being damaged ..we now have scooters and motorbikes flying down the ally into East avenue .mainly to the college and there whave been several near misses of them hitting residents coming out of property's at top of East avenue ..grandson only just escaped being hit by scooter flying down the ally ..us it possible some sort of barriers could be put up to stop this speed . Thanks

  • Investigation: Completed (Highways to Monitor, Routine Inspection Programme) - I am sorry to hear of your grandson’s near miss. Unfortunately the alley is too narrow to allow us to reinstate the barrier. Modern requirements mean we have to keep pedestrian routes available to people on mobility scooters, wheelchairs etc, and the old barrier prevented them having access. We will review if there are any alternative actions we can take to deter or slow the scooters and motorbikes using the alley, but we can’t reinstate a barrier like the one which was there previously.
