Investigation: Completed (Highways to Monitor, Routine Inspection Programme) - I am sorry to hear of your grandson’s near miss. Unfortunately the alley is too narrow to allow us to reinstate the barrier. Modern requirements mean we have to keep pedestrian routes available to people on mobility scooters, wheelchairs etc, and the old barrier prevented them having access. We will review if there are any alternative actions we can take to deter or slow the scooters and motorbikes using the alley, but we can’t reinstate a barrier like the one which was there previously.
