Second drain now blocked, additional flood.

Reported via desktop in the Blocked/Damaged category by Richard Amey at 10:37, Thursday 1 June 2023

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 4618441.

The continuing problem with the drain outside Sonifex premises has again now caused the drain outside Headland premises to block, causing further flooding. Our understanding is that there is a blockage somewhere between these two drains which needs excavating to resolve.

  • Still waiting for a resolution of blocked drain outside Sonifex premises. Yesterdays rainfall has pushed further rubbish into drain system blocking the drain outside Headland, again. Perhaps when you clean the drains you could flush out the line from the roundabout drain to the Headland drain to prevent further additional blockages?

  • I have been reporting this flooding issue since August 2021 (see reports 3781955, 3926372, 3956364, 4003235, & Jan, Feb, Jun'23 submitted reports). Numerous visits by the pump unit have diminished some of the additional flooding but not resolved the problem. Everyone is aware that excavation is required to rectify but that seems to be beyond reach.

  • Recent rainfall has AGAIN caused the 'Headland' drain to block. You did visit and pump out this drain a week ago to good effect but I would suggest that the gulley from Headland towards the roundabout was not cleaned. The underlying continual flood from the 'Sonifex' drain is still waiting resolution.

  • This has still not been fixed. It's a shambles that you you don't bother to sort the problem properly. There is now a very large pothole near the bus shelter. As each car goes over it - or in actual fact in it - then it will be damaging their car. If a motorcycle or a cyclist hits it then they will be seriously injured. You cannot see the pothole because it is full of water from the blocked drain.

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Completed (Work Completed) - We are aware of ongoing drainage problems in this area, we have submitted a scheme to repair this to North Northants Council. This process can be lengthy as approvals and funding is required. As soon as we have these approvals in place, we will be carrying out permanent repairs to the drainage system.
