  • Investigation: Ongoing - As the highway authority our legal responsibility is only to ensure that Public Rights of Way are marked from the roadside. Any other signage along this route will be monitored as part of our ongoing inspection regime. It is always recommended that members of the public use a suitable map when using the Rights of Way Network to locate various routes. We are in communication with the landowner to ensure that the vegetation has also been cleared back.

  • My understanding from the ‘Guidance to local authorities circular’ 2009 is that it is the responsibility of the local authority to maintain signage. Especially for people who use the bridleways but are not familiar with them,

  • Investigation: Ongoing - We have the authority to place way markers along routes to assist persons unfamiliar with routes, however, this always has to be done with the landowners' permission. The Public Right of Way is marked from the roadside. Any other signage along this route will be monitored as part of our ongoing inspection regime.
