Missing/Removed PRoW fingerpost

Reported via desktop in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 13:46, Mon 11 September 2023

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 4981216.

The fingerpost for PRoW TL10 (outside C.T.S building) is missing, it was there in 2019 (please see photos attached), I can only speculate that when the new owner took ownership of the land and installed a new fence (see 2023 pic attached) they indeed removed and never reinstalled the sign for the Public to show where the path is. As stated below you have a legal responsibility with the fingerpost can it be replaced… “As the highway authority our legal responsibility is only to ensure that Public Rights of Way are marked from the roadside.” Also, the landowner could be fined and should pay to have a new sign installed (Highways Act 1980). “If a person without lawful authority or excuse pulls down or obliterates a traffic sign placed on or over a highway, or a milestone or direction post (not being a traffic sign) so placed, he is guilty of an offence; but it is a defence in any proceedings under this subsection to show that the traffic sign, milestone or post was not lawfully so placed. (3)A person guilty of an offence under this section is liable to a fine..” Thanks
