(water or cables?) rench across road has sunk badly

Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 16:41, Tuesday 17 October 2023

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 5107379.

Recently when driving from West Haddon to Yelvertoft my O/S wheels have banged loudly when crossing this sunken trench which goes from one side of the road to the other. I assume it provides some services to the house that has been under construction there for many years. It must be deep, since the shock to the car is considerable. Not noticeable when travelling towards West Haddon.

  • I have come on this site to report this problem and glad to see it is already in the ‘System’. I have passed over this very deep sunken , sharp edged line across the whole carriageway many times and the car does bang loudly and damage caused to wheels, there have been rubber marks on the road where damage has been caused to tyres. Even passing over it at less than 10 mph it still affects your vehicle and as it is completely across the carriageway you cannot avoid it.
