  • This job has still not been completed. There is a problem with the drainage system as every time there is rain, this lid pops, and water comes out and down the road. Each time this happens, it washes away large amounts of the road surface. This needs to be dealt with as the road is well-used, and it's dangerous for vehicles as you cannot see the road damage due to the potholes being filled with water. This has been an ongoing issue. Do the right thing and fix it. All the time, it's not fixed; it's creating more damage and more costs to the Council to repair the road. It's that vicious cycle of inefficiency that leads to extra costs.

  • Investigation: Ongoing (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Ongoing - Thank you for your update to this enquiry. During our previous site visits to the reported blocked drains, we inspected and cleansed the gully assets which at the time of inspection, during non-storm surge conditions, were running clear.

We have investigated further and believe the surface water carrier system is impeded at some point between this chamber and the next one downstream. This system is of the responsibility of Anglian Water and we have reported this to them. We are awaiting their confirmation that this issue is related to their asset and we will continue to liaise with them on this matter. We will provide a further update in due course.

  • Thankyou you state in your message "This system is the responsibility of Anglian Water and we have reported this to them"

Then you say "We are awaiting their confirmation that this issue is related to their asset and we will continue to liaise with them on this matter"

What is it then? their asset as you say, however you go on to say it might not be their asset. Can you email me a copy of the document you have sent to them outlining the issue.

If you don't have a paper trail can you provide me the reference number given to you by AW that relates to this issue.

I will be emailing AW CEO to ask that he provides this data also and I will encouraging him to have this fixed as a matter of priority. Also I will be addressing the road surface which has sustained major damage as a result of this faulty asset.

My details are below for you to send me the required information.
